ARCHICAD modeling challenge: A Curved Wall with an Irregular Top

I saw a question on LinkedIN today and took up the challenge to solve it. I don’t know why, but for some reason I felt compelled to answer it. This isn’t my greatest video, I’m getting over a cold, and the topic is hyper specific, but it was a fun exercise. And yes, I probably should tag the video with #mumbling and #rambling. Sorry.

This is one of those videos that’s replicating the experience of watching over a coworker’s shoulder as he or she works. If people don’t mind this sort of video, I’ll try to do them when I have time. By the way, start to finish, from reading the question to posting this took about an hour.

So what was the question? How does one create an element that is curved in plan and has an irregular top surface. Okay, that’s not exactly what the question was. This is the actual question: “I am trying to bend an existing morph along a polyline…the morph has a preformed profile on the top edge….created originally as a slab….then converted to morph to enable it to be a vertical wall…”

But as we know, sometimes we need to look past the question to what is actually being asked.

I think part of why this question caught my attention is because it fits really well with three recent blog posts, two of which I wrote:
