Minnesota ARCHICAD User Group – September 18, 2015

Minnesota ARCHICAD User Group!

Guess who’s going to be in Minneapolis? Me! Since I’ll be there for the CRAN Symposium, it was a no brainer that we needed to also have an ARCHICAD user group. A big thanks to Adam Rasmussen for getting it organized. I am giddy with excitement about this event. Seriously. I’m counting the days. I haven’t been to Minneapolis since my family and I moved away in June of 2013. And while I am happy living in Seattle, and am part of a great ARCHICAD community here, I really miss all the wonderful architects and designers back in Minnesota who use ARCHICAD (and yes, some people who don’t use ARCHICAD). We are going to have such a great time talking about ARCHICAD, catching up, and sharing. Just like the old days, I’ll bring my laptop and tons to share. I’m excited to talk about all the amazing automated things we can do with the Label Tool in ARCHICAD 19, and share some other cool things I’ve learned since moving closer to the ocean. To prep, you might want to download my template for ARCHICAD 19. Below are all the details. Please spread the word to everyone else you know. And since our user group is the night before the CRAN Symposium, hopefully we’ll get a few extra out of town guests to join us.

Date:

Friday September 18, 2015
6:30 PM — 8:30 PM

Location:

SALA Architects, INC
326 E. Hennepin Avenue Suite 200
Minneapolis, MN 55414 US

What’s Happening:

Okay. Let’s get serious for a moment. What’s the official agenda? We are going to talk about my favorite parts of ARCHICAD 18 and 19. Why ARCHICAD 18 as well as 19? Those are the two versions that came out since I left Minnesota. So I want to talk about the bits of both of them that I love. Of course as anyone who’s ever been to a user group that I’ve run knows, lengthy lectures aren’t the goal. The official topic is just the starting point. If we get sidetracked, that’s okay. What I want to see-and what I hope the topic will facilitate-is a two hour discussion about ARCHICAD that continues afterwards at a local bar. Or starts beforehand at a restaurant. Sound good? Bring whatever you need: questions, a project, a printout, a gripe, a coworker, a friend, a disgruntled Revit user, a prospective user. I don’t care. I just want to get a big bunch of passionate ARCHICAD and BIM users together to talk about what’s important. You in? ALSO…if you have a question or topic you’d like to have discussed, please e-mail me ahead of time. I can’t promise we’ll cover it (especially if you ask about EcoDesigner STAR), but we’ll do our best.

6:30 PM — 8:30 PM:

That’s just a ruse. We’ll have ARCHICAD launched by 6:30 and close it down at 8:30. But after SALA, we’ll go to some bar or something in Northeast. Remember, I haven’t been back to Minneapolis in way too long. Friday night is all about the ARCHICAD community. If you want to meet up early to get a bite to eat, that sounds awesome to me. If you want to do a pub crawl. That’s cool. E-mail me and we’ll figure out the before and after details. Can you tell I’m excited to see everyone?

I’ll be back home in time for our next Seattle User Group (September 30th, details forthcoming) and am working on another out of town event as well!
