ArchiCAD 17 Hotfix #1, ArchiCAD 16 Hotfix #4, AND downloading ArchiCAD 17

I’ve got three items to report today as I sit on the floor of my childhood bedroom, watching my youngest daughter open and close the door to my oldest brother’s old bedroom… instead of taking the nap she should be taking right now.

ArchiCAD 16 and 17 Hotfix News

ArchiCAD 16 Hotfix-4 package (build 3827) was released today. You can read about all the details and download the Hotfix (if your ArchiCAD isn’t set to automatically notify you) here. Since ArchiCAD 15 kept getting Hotfixes into early 2013, I wouldn’t be surprised if 16 gets at least one more Hotfix before reaching its final version.

ArchiCAD 17 Hotfix-1 package (build 3013) was released earlier this week. I was traveling so didn’t get a chance to post right away. I feel like this might be the quickest Hotfix #1 after the release of a new version, ever. Anyone know? You can read about all the details and download the hotfix (if your ArchiCAD isn’t set to automatically notify you) here.

It appears that the main reason for both of these Hotfixes is the following: “License borrowing was disabled due to a problem caused by the  first time borrowing in a new version of ArchiCAD.” If you don’t deal with license borrowing each Hotfix still resolves plenty of other issues (though the ArchiCAD 16 Hotfix is much bigger than the ArchiCAD 17 Hotfix, which is a good sign). Don’t know what license borrowing is? Read this post I wrote about all the different kind of ArchiCAD Keys and Licenses. Remember to update everyone using Teamwork 2 (including the BIM Server) at the same time. For more details about the installation/update process, check the links I referenced above.

ArchiCAD 17 Download News

Are you checking the mail every day and getting really annoyed that Graphisoft North America hasn’t sent you your installation disc for ArchiCAD 17 yet? Well you’re going to be waiting forever, unless you’ve asked for a disk. I’ve heard of a few users who missed the e-mail GSNA sent out, so I’m going to share the pertinent info here:

“As part of our ongoing efforts to improve your overall user experience, GRAPHISOFT North America is offering electronic delivery of your installation disk and documentation set for ArchiCAD 17. Current ArchiPLUS ArchiCAD users are entitled to download the installation disk, activate your USB protection key(s) and use ArchiCAD 17.

STILL WANT HARD COPY DOCUMENTATION & DVD’s?

Please click here to request your Document Set and installation DVD. It is available for $20 USD Shipping & Handling Fee each, for eligible ArchiPLUS Subscribers.

If you need assistance, please email us or call GRAPHISOFT North America Technical Support at (800) 238-3992″

I don’t know why anyone would really NEED a physical copy anyways, so I’m happy that Graphisoft isn’t wasting their time sending DVDs to all of us. Especially since many of us have just been downloading the program from myarchicad.com anyways. Speaking of which, if you’re not on subscription, you can still download a 30-Day Trial of ArchiCAD 17 at myarchicad.com. And if you’re not in the GRAPHISOFT North America territory, check your e-mail or talk to your reseller. My strong guess is you’ll be getting a similar e-mail about a download as well.

One Last Thing

As you might have guessed by the opening  of this post, I’m in New England. I finally make it to Boston (well technically Newton, Massachusetts) on Monday. Then it’s two weeks of settling in before returning to full speed Shoegnome on July 15th (15ish more like it). And probably not full speed; more likely hyper-speed. A month without recording videos and writing daily means I have an OVERLOAD of stuff to share. Plus July 15th will be just past the 3 Year mark of the blog, and a handful of posts past 400 in that time (number 400 was last week).

Make sure to follow Shoegnome on Facebook and Twitter. If you’re not a social media person, RSS feed is also a great way to never miss anything either.
