I love working in the BIM environment and helping other architects work in a smarter, more efficient manner. I started using ArchiCAD in 2006, founded the Minnesota ArchiCAD Usergroup in 2009, and began blogging about ArchiCAD in 2010. I'm always looking for guest bloggers who also want to share their experiences with ArchiCAD and BIM.

A great Spanish language ArchiCAD Blog (don’t worry Google Translate is here to help)

Last week I tweeted (@shoegnome) and posted on facebook (www.facebook.com/shoegnome.llc) a link to an old post I did. Here it is. It was a short post about two things. There were some great tips from the ArchiCAD Forum. Real little gems that have increased my effectiveness in ArchiCAD tremendously. I can't believe I lived without these tricks for so many years. Go back to the old post, follow the links, and implement what you learn. You'll be happy. The second thing the post was about was the title: 5 Minutes on the Forum makes us all (look) Smart. Often it isn't having the answers that's important, [Read More...]

Daniel Dusoswa, Chairman of ACUA (ArchiCAD Users Association), forwarded me Ray Elysee's recap of the 2011 ArchiCAD Spring Academy. After reading it, I am even more jealous of everyone who was there. I hope that in coming years I'll be able to attend and that some of us users in North America will create similar events on this side of the Atlantic. I want to thank Daniel and Ray for this write up and I am really curious and excited for August 2011 (see below). Building on the success of the ArchiCAD Summer and Winter Schools, the two day ArchiCAD Spring Academy in Pula, [Read More...]

Or at least you better. No one should be running ArchiCAD 6.5 on Windows 2000. It just doesn't make sense. And  it is a huge loss of value and wasted effort. No one should have to deal with plotmaker ever again. Ever. There is just no acceptable argument as to why someone would still want to use it. A few weeks ago, my brother Mike sent me a link to Andy's Tech Experiments Blog. In it Andy installs and tests every version of Microsoft Windows and also talks about the evolution of Windows Internet Explorer. For anyone who enjoys learning about the history of computers (or used Windows in the [Read More...]
