I love working in the BIM environment and helping other architects work in a smarter, more efficient manner. I started using ArchiCAD in 2006, founded the Minnesota ArchiCAD Usergroup in 2009, and began blogging about ArchiCAD in 2010. I'm always looking for guest bloggers who also want to share their experiences with ArchiCAD and BIM.

Before I head to Boston for the Summer. Yup. Shoegnome is heading to the East Coast for June, July, and August. Don't worry. I'll be back in Minnesota by Labor Day. A month ago I posted an 8 minute video discussing a few aspects of my Work Environment in ArchiCAD. You can read the original post and watch the video here. There are some really good comments as well, so don't forget to check those out. Anyways, at the end of the post I asked for readers to send me screenshots of their Work Environments. Below is the first in a series of posts sharing the Work Environments you sent me.
This first Work Environment is from Scott Graham of Muhlenberg Greene Architects, LTD. As a bonus, make sure you check out the 'NEW MGA PROJECT NOTES' that are

I would love to have Zones in ArchiCAD be story sensitive.
So many other element types already are. What am I talking about? This:
AND this:
I'm starting to use zones a lot more for various scheduling purposes (more on that soon, I promise). I'd like to have one zone for stairs, but have it show up on multiple stories. Right now my options (for a 3 story space) are to have 3 stacked zones instead of one 3 story zone or have one zone and label the other stories with the text tool. I don't like either solution.
I want both the Zone Stamp and Zone Background

In early March 2012, I was one of three panelists for the BIM for Small Projects II AIA-TAP webinar. If you missed it, or just want to watch it again, it's now up on YouTube. Here's a link to the AIA page on the webinar. If you really want to see all the visuals, I suggest you make the video full screen. The whole webinar is great, but if you want to jump right to me, I'm speaker two and I start talking at about 23:15 (and go until about 47:00). And then the question and answers period starts at about 1:07:00.
Definitely find the time to listen to the whole webinar; Ed and Brian have some great

What are you doing May 25th & 26th, 2012?
Well let me give you a recommendation: ArchiCAD 2012 Spring Academy in Riga, Latvia. Here's some info from the ArchiCAD Users Association's website about the event:
"ArchiCAD Spring Academy 2012 is a two day celebration that will educate, entertain, and immerse you in the ArchiCAD community. You will be offered access to ArchiCAD BIM related products and services, paired with expert advice, demonstrations, workshops and instructions. Conference programs feature world famous architects and industry leading minds, presenting cutting edge product training

About a year ago I talked to a firm that was looking to build a "BIM dream team" (their words). This was the group that was going to revolutionize how the firm worked and be the core of the company's future. What was the boss's number one requirement for these new hires? They all needed to know a certain software. Hint, that software's name rhymes with Revit. Oh wait, that wasn't a hint at all. If that one requirement wasn't met, all other qualifications were ignored. That's crap.
This article from Cadalyst sums up my opinions on the subject perfectly:
"So, the short answer to the question

Have you seen the list of ArchiCAD Easter Eggs on the ArchiCADwiki? Enjoy!
Of all the Easter Eggs in ArchiCAD, I still think this is the best one. But then again I’m a fan of anything that can be related to Zombies.
