Multi-story Zones

I would love to have Zones in ArchiCAD be story sensitive.

So many other element types already are. What am I talking about? This:

Here are the ‘Show on Stories’ options for Walls

AND this:

Here are the options for Slabs

I’m starting to use zones a lot more for various scheduling purposes (more on that soon, I promise). I’d like to have one zone for stairs, but have it show up on multiple stories. Right now my options (for a 3 story space) are to have 3 stacked zones instead of one 3 story zone or have one zone and label the other stories with the text tool. I don’t like either solution.

I want both the Zone Stamp and Zone Background to be story sensitive.

I’ve created a poll on the ArchiCAD-Talk Forum; take a moment and please vote.
It’s probably too late for ArchiCAD 16, but maybe for 17…

In the meantime, here’s a challenge to all you GDL wizards (like Master Script and CADswift): Can an improved Zone Stamp be story sensitive? Having a story sensitive Zone Background would be nice, but the Zone Stamp is what’s really important to me. I’ll praise you to no end and plaster links to your Zone Stamp all over my blog if you can do it!

Hi Jared, with GDL there is no possibility to enforce the Zone Stamp to be visible on other stories. As you have shown, you first need to set objects with the Show on Stories option…

But when they have that option, explain to me what you want and I’ll make it.

Hi Jared, I have a question regarding zone stamps, not really related to multi-story zones.. When we updated Archicad in my office from version 19 to 20, the library didn’t migrate entirely.. For the most part yes, but what happened with some zone stamps is that they’re still showing as Zone stamp 19, while others switched automatically (as I guess they all should) to Zone 20. Those which are showing as 19 are all broken, and need complete redoing. The problem is that we’re in the middle of the project, and it’s a real waste of time to do this for half of the rooms.. In Library Manager it’s showing as missing stamp 19, but it’s not possible to replace/update it, at least not that I know. Did you encounter such problem in some of the previous updates?

    Thank you in advance!
