When did that happen? / I forgot about that!

I finally started a project in version 14 today. It’s probably more accurate to say I got distracted from working on my first version 14 project and spent time transferring over my version 11 template.

The task is a little more daunting than I expected because I’m jumping so many versions. So I’m going to forge ahead on this project and develop the template as I go. I expect to have lots to share in the coming days.

Here’s two things that I came across. Oddly, neither are new to version 14…

  1. I learned today that door and  window swings can be curved or straight. I don’t remember seeing this in version 11, so I think it’s something that appeared in v12 or v13. You can read more here. A lot of my coworkers will be excited to have the ability to use straight door swings. It’s never been my preference, but that’s okay.
  2. Eric Bobrow, one of the makers of MasterTemplate, has a great 5 minute video on how to set door and window IDs en masse. Again, this is a trick that has been around for a long time. But I haven’t used this option since version 9 (4 or 5 years ago) and had long since forgotten about it. It’s a great trick. And if you select the windows or doors in 3D, you can change IDs across stories.
